Experience Almería

Almería is a destination rich in history, with prehistoric archaeological remains such as Los Vélez and Los Millares, monuments such as the Alcazaba and the Cathedral-fortress of Almería, and shelters from the Civil War. This mixture of cultures gives its gastronomy a unique character.

Some of the stars of the cuisine are seafood, fish and stews, as well as a long tradition of tapas.

Almería’s beaches are one of its main attractions, thanks to their enormous beauty and variety. Some of the most popular are Aguadulce in Roquetas de Mar, Los Genoveses in the Cabo de Gata Natural Park and Mónsul in San José.

Golf is another great attraction, thanks to Almería’s incredible climate, with some of the best courses in Spain located in unique places: Desert Springs in Cuevas del Almanzora, Marina Golf in Mojácar and Playa Serena in Roquetas de Mar.

If you want to enjoy nature, in Almería you will find numerous routes through the white villages of the Alpujarra in the Sierra Nevada, the lagoons of Padules and the Cabo de Gata-Níjar Nature Reserve, unique spaces where you can enjoy 4×4 adventures, hiking, horse riding, scuba diving and cycling routes.

Finally, the Tabernas Desert has always been one of the great centres of film production. You can still visit some of the sets at Oasys MiniHollywood, a theme park with a zoo and pool area.
